Penny Arcade speaks truth

spaceballs_ludicrous.jpgThe (almost) always witty and intelligent guys at Penny Arcade have responded to the recent truth in video game ratings act spawned from the aged and decrepit minds in the United States government. Their big plan is to force the ESRB to play through video games in their entirety before assigning a rating. Anyone who’s ever played a video game knows that’s just ludicrous. I can honestly say I’ve never experienced everything in a video game, nor could I ever, thanks to modders, hidden bonuses and enormous game worlds. This lovely quote from Senator Brownback (I’ll abstain from any jokes, Senator) sums up their “philosophy” and exposes their ignorance like underpants on a flagpole:

“The current video game ratings system needs improvement because reviewers do not see the full content of games and don’t even play the games they are supposed to rate,” said Brownback. “For video game ratings to be meaningful and worthy of a parent’s trust, the game ratings must be more objective and accurate.”

The only question that remains: when will Mel Brooks release the parody of all this? I want to see Jack Palance as Jack Thompson. Or Christopher Walken.
